apparently the people that began the trouble over that topic did a "BET" to force us to lock the thread, that's why they started to show their down sindrome.

according with the rest of the information i got, a person behind this is Comppro (but can't be confirmed for now).

they were like taking advantage of the warning given by Lee the last time.

this should not be related because the forum problems is not a GM business.... but in special cases like this... that is an other good reason to ban them of the server too, trolling/spaming a topic deliberately because a bet to force to the mods to lock it permanently taking advantage of what lee warned, is something that needs to be punished with the server account too imo.

they ruined a topic blocking the rights to innocent people (those who really respect a topic and the rules) to post the pso records just because a stupid bet, in consecuense, they should be banned of the server.

dual punishements should be applied in special cases like this and over cases like with comppro.

keep in mind that the TA topic got another chance just because the ofenders did the attack by taking advantage of the things to make a bet, was simply a special case , but this not gonna happen always.

i think there's nothing more to say atm. just keep moderating the topics as much as you can like always (deleting, editing, warning and banning) if even with the moderation the topics are impossible, then lock without say anything.

if a topic is locked, it means that there is something wrong and the people need to learn to live with this fact too. (logic)

Going to chime in on this one because I seriously do not like how it has been handled on some points. For starters, Andy didn't ban evade. He tried to make a new account to PM a moderator and was rebanned. Secondly, you don't just hand out a bunch of permanent bans then decide what to do three days later, Vinebell. Third, as this was a pretty bad troll topic, bans being more severe despite their warn level is alright to me. What isn't alright are the other things about the bans.

Regarding Girth - the warn thing reminds me of something. I think warns should be reset after a while, or at least gradually removed from a user, because it's really going to be fucking stupid when I finally slip up after two years and get permanently banned from the forum. That's just not right. I know this function previously didn't work; but I know it does now.

Being banned for one month because you're not new is also something I see as wrong. It was a pretty bad troll, so extended punishments are alright to me. However, I'm thinking of reasonably long periods versus their infraction count. Major Tom, for example, has had only one warning prior to this. He should be banned for something like seven days. On the other hand, I think Girth should be banned for a month because he now has been warned more than ten times.

Finally - and most importantly - it is bullshit to be banned in game for something you did on the forum. Especially considering all he did was derail a thread with a picture of his penis among other things on a work safe forum. I think he should only be banned for a month considering it his first (second?) warn yet was clearly a major offense (trolling, nudity, attempting to get a topic deleted.) And that's from the forum. He shouldn't be banned at all in game. Unless you hack the forum and do some really nefarious deeds, anything other than a kick in-game is too severe considering it didn't happen in-game.

his point saying "this people is not new" means that they should have a better understanding of the hings and at least they has to cooperate with us reporting said topics just to show more discipline than perhaps the new people, they should not have encouraged the problem giving continuation to the little "game" and causing to others to follow it... however... they did it taking adavantage of the things due to a bet they did to get the topic locked limited to persons that have a good conduct, persons that really used the topic for what it was created and knows what the respect means.

a ban for 1 month is ok, but the sugestion arrived too late.


knowing now the real origin of the problem, i think too was unfair to keep the topic locked and just ban them of the forum, after all nobody cares if they are banned of here while they can continue playing in the server where it seems to be is the only place in which a ban really hurts them.

from this point, i think is not a bad idea to apply a punishement forum + server, but it must be only over very terrible people like this guy or as arelh said... over special cases.

speaking of how bad was the trolling in the topic... we are aware that there are ways to make trolling, all of them are annoying, that's the goal of a trolling, but they way this thread was trolled really passed out the limits exaggeratedly stupid with somethig that really deserves a permaban of both places (trim).

nobody is deciding what to do 3 days later with the forum profiles and punishements applied there, we diceded the periods the same day of the trouble and we are going to respect the way we pointed initially.

what i just see in this topic was just a fair punishement to this guy regardless of the forum ban and a proposal or sugestion for us to try to make the people to learn what the behaviour is.

GuardianGirth - for the start with this kid... i've saved him several times of a formal warning and ban by having a talk to him applying a verbal warn, he seems to understand just for the moment, but he falls down in the same thing days later.

with this all....if we count the "deleted" 9 warnings, plus the ones i gave him via pm's, plus the one was given recently, do you relly think he deserves only 1 month ban and veven a warn reset?

i think the warn reset should ben applied only over some staff members like you corey, actually i believe you are the only one with 9 warnings.

the guy who was banned because he did an alternate account to appeal a ban is not wrongly re-banned either, he just had to wait until his period end and is pointed in the rules.

then again, i really think is ok to apply punishements forum + server, but i repeat that must be only over very terrible people or those who do not learn to behave.

the goal of this is to find more ways to control the conduct of the people so others will think more before do anything wrong.
